SYAIR JENAKA

Syair Jenaka

Dengar adik syair jenaka,
Sekadar untuk bersuka-suka,
Buat menghibur hati yang luka,
Serta mengubat masam di muka.

Puyuh berlari di celah rumput,
Nenek mengejar nafasnya semput,
Puyuh tak dapat nenek menghamput,
Songelnya jatuh tinggal sejemput.

Beruk datuk memanjat kelapa,
Duduk berehat bagai terlupa,
Datuk di bawah terkapa-kapa,
Tali direntap putus sedepa.

Ayam Pak Kaduk lawan menyabung,
Ditaji lawan sampai melambung,
Dibawa pulang perutnya kembung,
Dimasak gulai bercampur rebung.

Tengah hari menahan pukat,
Sampai ke petang ikan tak lekat,
Angkara memerang hendak disekat,
Pak Kaduk malu terlondeh pelikat.

Seronok sungguh kerbau berkubang,
Lembu melihat hidungnya kembang,
Kambing nak dekat berasa bimbang,
Biawak ketawa lidah bercabang.

Angin menderu nyamannya petang,
Beruk tertidur di atas batang,
Mulut terbuka matanya buntang,
Tupai tergelak berguling gantang.

Itik berlenggang pulang petang,
Ayam bertelur suaranya lantang,
Kucing malas tidur terlentang,
Dipijak tuan naiklah bintang.

Ayam berkokok tekak tersumbat,
Habis sekampung bangun terlambat,
Kebulur sudah kerbau tertambat,
Bulu sendiri habis disebat.

Singa mengaum giginya patah,
Tak boleh makan daging yang mentah,
Minta daun gajah meratah,
Termakan jelatang termuntah-muntah.

Kerengga ramping jangan diiri,
Dahulu gemuk seperti bebiri,
Menahan gelak tidak terperi,
Melihat babi terlanggar lori.

Karangan ini ilham sasterawan,
Buat menghibur hati yang rawan,
Bukan menghina kawan dan lawan,
Kalau tersinggung maaflah kawan.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD !!

Protect yourself against fraud

While credit card fraud is a problem, here are a few simple steps you can take to greatly reduce the risk of becoming a victim.

Tips:

  • Sign new cards immediately. When you receive your new or replacement card in the mail, sign it, in ink, right away. If it is a replacement card, destroy the old card by cutting it into many small pieces.

  • Shred old credit card receipts. You can purchase an inexpensive paper shredder at an office supply store. All old receipts with your credit card number and any unneeded documents with your social insurance number or other sensitive personal information should be shredded before disposal. This prevents the common practice of criminals going through the trash to find receipts and stealing your identity. If you don't have a personal shredder, choose a trusted document shredder service to destroy credit card receipts.

  • Never fax your credit card number. Your credit card number can lie for hours in the fax basket at the other end. Anyone passing by can record your number and begin to use your card number fraudulently. It is even possible for criminals to intercept your credit card number while the fax is in transmission.

  • Use caution when giving your credit card number out on the phone or on the Internet. Only give out your credit card number on telephone calls you initiate to business or organizations you trust. Never give your number out to callers who call unannounced, no matter how legitimate the call sounds.

  • On the Internet, look for an Internet address that begins https:\\. The “s” indicates that it is a secure connection and a small padlock symbol should appear in the bottom right hand corner of your screen, indicating it is safe to transmit your credit card number.

  • Call your credit card company instantly if you suspect trouble. All credit card companies have 24 hour lost and stolen help lines. If you lose your wallet or purse or have it stolen, call without delay! Much fraud happens within the first hour or two, before the victim realizes the cards are missing. Your credit card company will block your cards from being used and stop you from being responsible for any charges thieves incur.

  • Take advantage of any security features your card offers. Many newer cards have the option of including your photograph on the card. This is excellent protection and is highly recommended.

SAVE MONEY ON UTILITIES

Many don't realize that our basic utility bills provide the perfect money saving opportunity for practically every household!
  • Especially with today's energy crisis so prevalent throughout many of the states, you've probably heard this term - conservation.
  • Guess what, conservation really means "using less". Using less energy, means you are spending less money. Inevitably, conservation goes hand in hand with saving money.
  • We sometimes lose sight of the fact that the water, gas and electricity we use in our homes, always comes back to us in the form of a lovely bill. Use the tips below and you may be surprised to find yourself saving $1000 or more every year.

Electric:
  • Fans can really cool a house in warmer months if set up properly. Ideally, you want to set up fans to draw in cool air (shady side of house) and circulate into the warmer areas.
  • Get in the habit of turning off ALL lights and appliances that are not being used. You'll be surprised at how quickly the energy savings will add up.
  • TURN THE TV OFF! Did you know that leaving the television on is the number one electricity waster in the world? When everyone is finished watching television, especially before going to sleep, turn it off.
  • Replace all "non-reading" lights with lower wattage light bulbs or possibly the new "energy plus" bulbs for even more savings over time.
  • Get in the habit of hanging your clothes to dry, possibly on a clothesline in a bathroom.
  • Insulate! Insulate! Insulate! Our number one money saving tip! Check the weather stripping around doors and windows. Caulk or foam insulate any place where outside air has a chance to get in. Don't forget to insulate your attic floor with either "roll" or "loose-fill" insulation.
  • Long Term - Install ceiling fans throughout the house. You can then start decrease A/C usage and during winter months, the fans will help circulate warm air throughout the house.
  • Long Term - Plant tall shrubs and brushes. Not only will this beautify your property, but also shade your home causing less need for the A/C in summer months and help block out harsh winds in colder months.

Water:
  • Check to make sure none of the faucets & spigots in your household are leaking/dripping. A slow dripping faucet can accumulate over two gallons per hour.
  • When watering the garden, set a schedule and try to water in the early morning hours to help minimize evaporation (between 6am-8am)
  • Avoid taking baths and long showers.
  • Leave the faucet OFF when you are brushing your teeth or shaving. Only turn it on when needed.
  • If you must wash your car at home, only turn on the hose when you're rinsing.

Gas:
  • During winter months, light a fire for warmth instead of using the central heating unit. Wood is still cheaper than gas.
  • Check and make sure fireplace is working properly.
  • Wear seasonal appropriate clothing around the house. Get used to wearing sweaters and pants during winter months. You'll find that you won't need to turn the heat up as high.
  • Lower the temperature on your gas water heater. You really don't need water heated up to 180 degrees. Lower it a bit and save.
  • Turn off stove and oven a few minutes before time is up. Residual heat will finish the job perfectly.

Phone:
  • Compare the prices of various long distance providers and ask the representative which plan provides you the greatest savings based on your calling history. With all the long distance companies on the market, don't be afraid to change to one that's more appropriate for you.
  • Get used to email and the Internet! It costs little to nothing to use, and now with instant chatting services like Yahoo Messenger, here's the perfect money saving opportunity.
  • Find a good reason to have people call you. You can even come up with a good excuse for them to "call you back".

DISCIPLINED WITH THE SAVINGS

How to Stay Disciplined with Your Savings

  • Just do it!  Pay yourself first!
  • Gather all important financially-related documents and receipts to a central location.  File them so you will be able to easily find the items you need in the future.  Consider a computer based financial program so you can keep track of every dime you spend – financial control is a special form of power!
  • Spending every dime and more?  Start by cutting back on a few items per week and putting away that money.  Pay yourself first.  Just say no to spending more than you have.
  • Ask for direct deposit at work if they offer it – you’re saving money, and you don’t even see it.  A savings plan at work that pays you a “matching contribution” is the fastest way to save.  Pay yourself first!
  • Do not use credit cards.  Force yourself to pay cash so that you can track the dimes.  You will never have a late payment (now as much as $75) and you will never pay interest to others at the very high rates credit cards charge.
  • Financial freedom will be worth everything you put into it.  Don’t want to work forever – choosetosave®!

Top Saving Mistakes

  • Not modifying your spending habits and committing to save money.
  • Not taking advantage of your company’s match in a 401 (k) plan, or getting involved in a defined contribution plan.
  • Not appropriately/correctly allocating your assets to meet a specific goal or time horizon (diversification is important).
  • Not setting a specific dollar target or financial goal.
  • Not knowing how much you have, where you are spending your money, and how much you need to save for the future (failure to plan for retirement).
  • Cashing out your retirement plan – should roll over to an IRA or your new company’s retirement plan.

COUPLES

Financial Tips for Couples

Believe it or not, many couples find it very difficult to talk openly about their finances.  Money problems can literally cause a lot of heartache between people, so here are some ways couples can come together to get their financial house in order:

  • Get organized: Gather all important financially-related documents to a central location that is equally accessible to both partners.
  • Track your spending and pay yourself first: Write down where you are spending your money.  Re-route some of your spending to a savings account: pay yourself first for a secure financial future.
  • Plan to save: Start a savings account to cover expenses like clothes, Christmas/holidays, and insurance.  Plan for future expenses throughout the year.
  • Build an emergency fund: You never know when you will need additional cash so try to have two to three months of living expenses in a readily accessible savings account or money market account.
  • Don’t Go Into Debt, and if you are, Get out of debt: Avoid Credit CARDS.  If you must use them, control your credit card spending and try to pay off any debts you have (e.g., car, credit card, student loan, etc.).  Pay more than the minimum monthly payment.  Once you have paid off your debts/credit cards, take the money and put it towards savings or some other debt.  If possible, the goal is to simultaneously pay off your debt while still putting some amount into savings.  Remember, you are loaned money so that you will pay interest and late charges and make other people money.
  • Set goals: Decide what you want to do with your money.  Do you want to pay off debts/student loans? Buy a house? Save for a new car or additional education?  Write down your goals and your strategy for achieving these goals.  Write a budget.
  • Review your insurance coverage: Every year, review your health, life, disability, renter/homeowners, auto, and personal liability policies to make sure you are both adequately covered. To learn more about insurance go to the National Association of Insurance commissioners Insure U web page.
  • How much should you save and/or invest? Save at least 15% of every dime you earn beginning with your first job.  The older you are the higher the percentage has to go unless you think you can work forever!

WEALTH MANAGEMENT

So you want a shot at being in management?  Maybe you think that you can do a better job than your boss.  You see them for their faults, and see yourself for your strengths.  Well, I can’t tell you how to get promoted, but maybe I can help you with your humility and show you ways to save money and manage your wealth.
Many people struggle with wealth management.  They just can’t seem to figure out how to save and grow their money.  Why is so much easier to spend money than save it?  Most people are lazy.  They take the easiest path that life offers them.  So, why don’t they just put their money in savings and leave it there?  It actually takes effort to spend money.  Still, lazy people spend it until it’s all gone.
Wealth management takes good managing skills.  A good manager knows how to keep tabs on the people they’re in charge of.  You are in charge of your money.  Sure, you make agreements that decide how some of your money is going to get spent.  You get a mortgage, you sign a lease, or you get a car loan.  All of these things will take your money away, but you decided to get them.  You are still the manager of your money.  Just because you signed a sheet of paper doesn’t mean you’re somebody else’s slave.  You are always the manager of your money.
Step one to good wealth management is realizing that you are in charge of your money.  The next step is making good choices.  You lose money every time you spend it.  That sounds pretty simple, but so many people seem to not realize it.  When you buy something, your money is gone.  Depending on what you bought, you may never see that money again.  If you bought something that is immediately not worth anything after you buy, then you have probably wasted your money.  To be a good wealth manager, you need to figure out how to spend your money right.

There are some things that you can buy that will actually help your money grow.  Some things are wise investments.  Going out to eat everyday is not a wise investment.  That is a waste of money. So, put yourself in charge of your money.  Up until now you have always made the decisions for how to spend your money.  If you don’t pay attention to what you are doing with your money then you will probably waste your money.
Think of someone you admire.  Why do you admire them?  They probably did something great.  They probably took charge of some situation.  People should admire how you spend your money.  You should take charge of your financial situation.  Wealth management should be your priority.
Maybe you won’t be the manager of your company anytime soon.  Until then, you can learn how to manage the money you have.  Then, when you accumulate more money, you will already know how to manage it.  One day you are going to retire.  At that time you will hope that you have been good at wealth management.

BECOME A SUPER CONSUMER

Most kids have some idea of what they want to be when the grow-up. Unfortunately, landing a position as a pirate or princess isn’t always easy. On the other hand, one thing that we all get to be when we grow up—whether we like it or not—is a consumer. While being a consumer isn’t as glamorous as being a Superhero, it is important and does require a lot of training. Learning to be a good consumer is important as it offers a basis for financial success. Fortunately, there are four very basic tips for wise money management:

1.       Live beneath your means. Learn the difference between needs and wants; experts agree that one key to happiness to be happy with what you already have.

2.       Expect the unexpected. No one plans to lose a job or suffer from illness. Being prepared for life’s setbacks will give you peace of mind and help you to survive financially if the worst should happen.

3.       Plan for tomorrow. Make it a habit to pay yourself first. The earlier you start the better—as they say, the eighth wonder of the world is compound interest.

4.       Keep credit under control. The average household owes more than RM8,000 in credit card debt. Smart consumers use credit as a tool of convenience, rather than an extension of their income.

Finally, know when to seek help.  After all, even the Batman couldn’t do his job without his trusty sidekick.

FINANCIAL : PEACE OF MIND

Financial can be a peace of mind..If, you know the way..
and the way can be a peace of cake!!
It's up to you..

NO.1
Ditch your credit card if it has an annual fee attached, but first, make sure you are      eligible for new credit. Issuers have tightened their lending standards, and you don’t want to be left without access to any credit.

NO.2
Don’t use an ATM if it charges you a fee.

NO.3
Bank where free checking is offered.

NO.4
Put your money where it earns the most by finding the best rates available for savings and CDs. You can compare rates at CreditCards.com and Bankrate.com.

NO.5
Buy generic groceries which are estimated to be 27 percent cheaper than their name-brand counterparts, and are often made by the same company.

NO.6
Get back to the basics and start cutting coupons.

NO.7
Utilize any savings plans at work. If your company offers a Flexible Spending Account (FSA), but you’ve never bothered to investigate it, now’s the time. Taking advantage of the savings allowed by earmarking expenses to be paid through an FSA can result in real savings.

NO.8
Consider cutting back on contributions to your retirement plan at work. When you’re trying to find extra money, this is a much better option than dipping into your actual retirement account. Just remember to play catch-up when your finances turn the corner.

NO.9
Make sure you’ve taken advantage of every tax credit and/or deduction available to you.
